Celtic midfielder Odin Thiago Holm is closing in on a return to Norway after both clubs reached a verbal agreement over a loan move.

The 23-year-old is expected to travel to Oslo soon to complete the transfer.

Holm joined Celtic in 2023 from Vålerenga for around €2.6 million, arriving with high expectations following his impressive performances in Norway’s top flight.

However, he has struggled to secure regular playing time in Glasgow.

A loan spell at Los Angeles FC earlier this year also failed to provide consistent minutes, leaving the midfielder in need of a fresh opportunity to regain form and confidence. Despite limited chances, Holm has remained professional and committed to improving his game.

The proposed move back to Vålerenga is currently a straight loan, with no option to buy included. Both clubs are working to finalise the deal before the transfer window closes, with Holm’s travel plans already being arranged.

From a football standpoint, the switch makes sense for all parties. Holm is familiar with the club, the league, and the playing style, allowing him to settle quickly and make an immediate impact.

For Celtic, the move offers the midfielder a chance to gain valuable game time and continue his development rather than remaining on the sidelines.

Back in Norway, Holm is expected to play a key role in midfield once again, using his experience to contribute and rediscover the form that earned him a move abroad.

This loan represents an important opportunity for Holm to reset and rebuild momentum ahead of a crucial stage in his career. Both clubs are confident the deal will be completed smoothly, allowing him to return to familiar surroundings and get back to his best.
