OMG! Triple Blow Rocks Falkirk Ahead of Celtic Showdown as Boss Confirms Key Absences
Falkirk’s trip to face Celtic has taken a serious hit before a ball is even kicked, with the squad dealing with a damaging mix of fatigue and fresh injuries at the worst possible moment.
Just like their opponents, John McGlynn’s side were dragged through an exhausting Scottish Cup semi-final last weekend. After battling through 120 minutes, they eventually fell on penalties to Dunfermline, leaving both physical and mental scars. With only a handful of league matches remaining and little room to climb the standings, the timing couldn’t be worse.
And now, the situation has worsened.
Falkirk will travel to Celtic Park without Scott Bain, Filip Lissah, and Liam Henderson — three players who would normally be automatic picks. It’s a major setback for McGlynn, who is already juggling a stretched squad.
The manager has openly admitted his frustration, revealing that these new injuries only add to ongoing concerns around Louie Marsh and Ethan Williams. Depth is quickly becoming an issue, especially with such a demanding fixture looming.
Bain’s absence remains a concern. The goalkeeper picked up an ankle problem, and while scans haven’t shown anything too serious, the bruising means he won’t be ready in time for this clash. There is still optimism he could return before the season ends.
Henderson, meanwhile, is sidelined with a slight hamstring strain — not a long-term issue, but enough to rule him out for now. Lissah’s situation is similar, with an ankle complaint that has worsened in recent imaging, prompting the medical team to take no risks.
All of it leaves McGlynn heading into one of the toughest matches on the calendar without several of his most dependable names.
Falkirk’s record against Celtic this season doesn’t offer much encouragement either. They’ve lost all four meetings so far, with Celtic largely dictating proceedings — particularly in Glasgow.
Still, there have been flashes of resistance. In January, Falkirk pushed Celtic all the way in a narrow 1-0 defeat, a match that required crucial saves from Kasper Schmeichel. Even their last visit to Celtic Park saw them create opportunities, though they ultimately fell 2-0.
This time, however, with injuries mounting and energy levels drained, the task ahead looks even more daunting.
