Celtic Appoint New Boss NOW Title-Winning Manager Set to Replace O’Neill Parkhead Braced for Huge Announcement

Celtic’s search for a new manager is heating up, with Jens Berthel Askou emerging as a leading contender amid growing speculation over who will replace Martin O’Neill this summer.

A title-winning manager is emerging as the favourite to replace Martin O’Neill at Celtic, sparking speculation across Parkhead as fans look ahead to an intriguing summer.

Celtic Manager Speculation Heats Up Even before the season wrapped up, Celtic’s managerial search has been buzzing with names and theories.

Robbie Keane has been linked as a frontrunner, with his strong record in Hungary and brief Celtic playing history making him a tempting option. Roberto Martinez, currently managing Portugal, has also featured prominently in earlier speculation.

Craig Bellamy remains on the radar too, though Wales’ recent World Cup elimination could affect his availability, with Burnley reportedly expressing interest in the former striker.

Meanwhile, Graham Potter in Sweden and Kjetil Knutsen at Bodo/Glimt have been quietly attracting admiration from the Celtic board.

But according to recent opinion from former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, one name is beginning to stand out in the chatter: Jens Berthel Askou.

Askou has impressed in his first season at Motherwell, guiding the club to 21 wins, 12 draws, and just seven defeats from 40 games. His side has scored 71 goals while conceding 37, playing attractive, cohesive football that has drawn praise far beyond Lanarkshire.

Wyness suggests that behind-the-scenes soundings may already be underway and that Askou could be emerging as the “favourite” for the Parkhead role. He even speculates that Celtic could be coordinating summer transfer plans, like a permanent deal for Julian Araujo, in tandem with gauging Askou’s input.

“It does seem that the Motherwell manager seems to be favourite,” Wyness said.

“There could well be soundings if this is going to be a done deal behind the scenes, which it may well be. You’d think they’d be reaching out and getting a thumbs up on players like Araujo as well.”

Regardless of who takes over, a shake-up at Celtic looks inevitable. Askou, if the speculation proves accurate, would inherit a squad in need of attacking reinforcements and a clear vision for the future.

With his proven ability to succeed with limited resources, the 43-year-old Dane could offer an exciting direction for the Bhoys, building on his prior success with FC Copenhagen, where he clinched a Danish league title before moving to Motherwell.

For now, the Parkhead faithful are left waiting, with the summer window promising not just player moves but potentially a bold managerial appointment to reshape Celtic’s fortune.
